Billie Eilish described the manifestations of Tourette's syndrome, with which she was diagnosed at an early age, as "exhausting".
During her appearance on David Letterman's "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction" on Netflix, Billie Eilish talked about a topic she rarely mentions in interviews: Her life with Tourette's syndrome.
It did not appear that Billie Eilish was necessarily planning to talk about Tourette's syndrome - which she said she was diagnosed with at age 11 - but the issue arose on its own when a change in the backlight caused one of her ticks.
"If you videotape me for a long time, you will see a lot of ticks," said the 20-year-old singer.
"I do not care. It's really weird, I'm not talking about it at all. The most common way people react is to laugh because they think I'm trying to be funny. They think I'm doing the ticks like a funny move. "And it always offends me unbelievably," he continued.
Billie Eilish continued: "The funny thing is that so many people have it and you would never understand it. Some artists contacted me and said: "Actually I always had Tourette". And I'm not going to reveal who they are, because they do not want to talk about it, but it was very interesting to me. I used to say: “Really? What;"".
"I wish God did not make what we did worse," said David Letterman, thanking Billie Eilish for the unexpected change, adding: "I know nothing about Tourette's syndrome."
Billie Eilish replied: "I really like answering questions about this because it's very, very interesting. "And I'm incredibly confused by that and I do not understand it."
Most of Billie Eilish's ticks, such as the shaking of her ear or the contraction of the muscle in her hand, are hardly noticeable by anyone other than herself.
"These are things you would never notice if you just had a conversation with me, but to me they are very exhausting. It's not that I like it, but it's part of me. I have made friends with it. "And so now, I feel very confident with this syndrome," he noted.
Tourette's syndrome is an inherited neurological disorder that begins before adulthood and is characterized by multiple kinetics and at least one vocal tic.
These manifestations are characterized by periods of tension and recession, they can be voluntarily suppressed by the individual for a temporary period of time, while their appearance is preceded by a warning subjective feeling of impulsive nature.
